General Information : In the department studies about using of soil and water resources in the optimum way, preserving and improving of these resources, planning of all the necessary structures and facilities during the various stages of production and studies helping structural and physical development of agricultural enterprises are performed. In the department there six full-time faculty members and two research assistants. The research topics which are stuied in the department are irrigation, irrigation methods, plant water consumption, greenhouse construction and air-conditioning technique, animal shelters, drainage and land reclamation, irrigation water quality and salinity, land consolidation. The department has Agricultural Structures and Irrigation laboratory.  
Qualification Awarded : The student graduated from Agricultural Structures and Irrigation Department receives the title of Agricultural Engineer  
Level of Qualification : First Cycle (Bachelor?s Degree).In order to graduate from Agricultural Structures and Irrigation Department, students are required to take 130 ± 10 credits of courses , 45 working days of summer practice, and to prepare a graduation thesis.  
Specific Admission Requirements : The candidates who have had the right to be students at Suleymen Demirel University Faculties and High Schools in the central exams carried out by T.C. Council of Higher Education, Student Selection and Placement Center matriculate for certain in the time announced by the Rectorship, again with the documents declared by the Rectorship. The candidates who have not matriculated for certain in the time announced lose their rights. Student?s identification cards are given to the students who have matriculated for certain.  
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal and informal) : The lateral transfers from other higher education institutions to the units of Suleyman Demirel University are applied according to the provisions of the regulations published on the official gazette dated 21.10.1982 and numbered 17845 ?inter higher education institutions associate and bachelor?s level lateral transfer regulations?. Lateral transfer applications are evaluated and concluded by the university administrative committee. The study period of the transfer students is determined by the administrative committee of the related unit with an eye to the period that the student had in the institute which s/he was transferred from. Total period cannot exceed the study period determined by the laws. Vertical transfers of Vocational High School graduates to the Suleymen Demirel University Bachelor?s degree programs are applied by the Faculty Administrative committee according to the provisions of the regulations published on the official gazette dated 19.02.2002 and numbered 24676 ?Regulations about Vocational High Schools and Open Education Associate Programs graduates? attending bachelors degree level education?. Lateral transfer can be done among the programs and the units of the Faculties, High Schools and Vocational High Schools of Suleyman Demirel University. Principles regarding this transfer are regulated with the instructions agreed by the university senate.  
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : National qualifications frameworks may contain levels (or intermediate qualifications) within the three Bologna cycles (e.g. a short cycle within the first cycle). These levels allow institutions to structure a particular qualification and regulate progression through the qualification. Qualification Requirements and Regulations are enacted by YÖK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.  
Profile of The Programme : Objective of the program is to teach how to collect and analyse required data, to teach the methods of problem solving, to educate qualified people who can develop present and novel technology, to create projects for rapid and direct identification and solutions of regional and nationwide agricultural problems, to educate individuals sensitive to environment in agricultural applications, to make research at national and international level, to provide individuals the scientific and professional ethics, to equip persons with self-confidence, entrepreneurial property and rationalist decision making.  
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples :  
Access to Further Studies : The students registered to bachelor?s degree programs and meeting the necessary requirements have the opportunity to attend a Minor Program aimed at a certificate in addition to their bachelor?s degree programs. Minor program does not mean a different bachelor?s degree program. On the other hand, by attending at the same time to another bachelor?s degree program which is close to the program the student is already taking in terms of subject, the students may register Double Major Program. Minor and Major Double programs are regulated according to the instructions determined the university senate.  
Aims Of Programme : The purpose of Agricultural Structures and Irrigation Department is to primarily implement students with basic engineering and fundamental agricultural knowledge, and to train agriculture engineers experted in the field by providing them vocational courses in agricultural irrigation use in agriculture.  
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : Students are subject to semester/year-end exams in addition to their mid-term exams and studies. For a course in each term/year at least one midterm exam is taken. Semester/year-end exams are taken at the hour, on the day and in the place determined and announced by the deanship. Internship, laboratory and implementation exams may also be examined with the Faculty Administrative Committee decision. To be able to take a course?s semester/year-end exam it is necessary :a) to reregister b) to attend 70% of the theoretic course c) if it has the implementation and laboratory, to attend 80% and be successful d) to have taken the mid-term exam/s. When the course and the laboratory courses are evaluated differently the requirements above are valid. Final grade of a course is found through relative evaluation system. To relative evaluation system to be able to find a student?s final grade firstly raw score is calculated considering the mid-term exam, if available education tasks and semester/year-end final exam scores as it is the same in the absolute evaluation. This grade in the evaluation method is accepted as raw grade out of 100. For all of the students raw grades out of 100 are adapted to 4 point grading system or to letter system which is admitted by the senate considering the general success level, grade variance, arithmetic mean and the standard deviation of the class. In this evaluation the mid-term exam or other studies equal to mid-term exams affect the success grade at the rate of 40% , semester/year-end exam affects the success grade at the ratio of 60%. The student who has at least 2.00 grade point average is considered to be successful on condition that s/he has no (FF), (FD), (NA) or (K) for any lesson. The student who has grade point average below 2.00 is considered unsuccessful. The ones who are unsuccessful may retake the courses graded with (DC) or (DD) with the advice of the supervisor and the approval of the head of department.  
Graduation Requirements : In our faculty/departments normal education period is 4 years. But the students who cannot graduate in this period have to complete his/her education in seven years according to the 44th article of the law numbered 2547. At the end of these periods two extra exam rights, one of it is make-up exam, are given to the final year students to be able to graduate from the program. After these exams, the students that decreased the number of the unsuccessful courses to five, for these five courses three terms; the students who have failed five courses without taking these exams, four terms; the students who failed three or less courses unlimitedly may take the exams. To be able to graduate from a program a student taking all the courses and pass all in the legal period, has to complete the program with a 2.00 grade point average. Grade point average is at the same time the graduation average. At the end of normal education period the students that graduate with at least basic course load with a grade point average between 3.00-3.49 have the right to have ?Achievement Certificate?, the students graduate with a grade point average between 3.50-4.00 have the right to have ?Superior Achievement Certificate?.
