General Information : The department of Environmental Engineering at Süleyman Demirel University was established in the educational year of 1993-1994, with first graduates in 1997. Although a relatively new department, the freshman- and sophomore-level basic engineering and science courses are offered by high quality academicians from other related engineering departments with more than 20 years of history in our university. The department offers Bachelor (BS), Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Engineering and Science degrees. The four-year curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Environmental Engineering enables the graduates to enter professional practice as an engineer or to continue his or her studies in programs leading to advanced degrees in the following broad fields of specialization: water and wastewater engineering, air pollution control, solid and hazardous waste management, hydraulics, and environmental fluid mechanics. The graduates of the BS curriculum may function in broad environmental engineering and science areas including planning and design, construction, research and development, operations and maintenance. The MS degree is intended for incoming students with a strong background in the sciences or engineering and prepares them for advanced education or careers in research, practice or management in the field of environmental engineering and science. The scholarly focus of the department is the interplay between humankind and the physical, chemical, and biological processes, and other species that regulate the function of both natural and engineered environments.  
Qualification Awarded : This is a first cycle degree program in engineering, Environmental Engineering (240 ECTS). You will be awarded, on successful completion of the programme and gain competencies, a degree of Bachelor in Environmental Engineering.  
Level of Qualification : First Cycle (Bachelor?s Degree).EQF-LLL - Level 6  
Specific Admission Requirements : Students must comply with the legal and academic requirements to access the studies in the Süleyman Demirel University according to the process established by the ÖSYM (Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Centre) regulations. Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year. More information about general admission requirements can be found in the catalogue of Information on the Institution. Under an established exchanges program or one approved by the University, exchange students from abroad may be accepted for studies on the courses taught in English. Or, if they are confident in Turkish, they may then enrol any courses, running in Turkish, shown on the ?Course Structure? diagram.  
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal and informal) : Department of Environmental Engineering accepts students from the other universities including Environmental Engineering Program. Under an established exchanges program or one approved by the University, exchange students from abroad may be accepted for studies on the courses taught in English. Or, if they are confident in Turkish, they may then enroll any courses, running in Turkish, shown on the ?Course Structure? diagram.  
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : National qualifications frameworks may contain levels (or intermediate qualifications) within the three Bologna cycles (e.g. a short cycle within the first cycle). These levels allow institutions to structure a particular qualification and regulate progression through the qualification. Qualification Requirements and Regulations are enacted by YÖK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.  
Profile of The Programme : 1. To offer a theoretically- and practically-rich curriculum at bachelor-degree program in Environmental Engineering discipline. 2. To train the prospective engineers with such talents that they are able to bring solutions to the problems through alternative designs and practices in the closure of the clean-production and sustainable development by the light of acquired scholarship. 3. To donate them with such capabilities that they can conduct the fundamental experiments, evaluate the data they collected as well as fulfill any researches, and also know how to successfully reach the information in need. 4. To guide them enhance and increase their self-confidence and possess an impressive success to express themselves in the professional life and in providing solutions together with the cooperation with colleagues in professional life and also successful adaptability to work interdisciplinary. 5. To help the prospective graduates develop a consciousness in authenticity at social considerations and economic matters as well as in ethics and legislative regulations. 6. To encourage them to be agile in putting an eye on the developments in their profession, and, additionally, be enthusiastic to take part in local, national and international activities, and take responsibilities when needed.  
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples : The graduates of the BS curriculum may function in broad environmental engineering and science areas including planning and design, construction, research and development, operations and maintenance.  
Access to Further Studies : Upon a successful completion of the programme, student may continue with master studies in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from Environmental Engineering.  
Aims Of Programme : The scope of the bachelor degree program at the Environmental Engineering Department of Süleyman Demirel University is, by schooling internationally for a sustainable environment, to graduate students with the attitudes of gratified ethics, professional prospective towards to research and practice, leader personality leading to environmental consciousness in society, susceptibility to comprehend and solve the environmental problems.  
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : They are specified in each course. Please see the Course Structure for details.  
Graduation Requirements : There is no final examination or examination period at the end of an academic year, or at the end of the study programme. There is, however, a final examination and examination periods, i.e., normally takes two weeks and starts immediately after at the end of each semester. Student is expected to have a successful completion of internship (45 working days) in industry, association or laboratories before graduation. In addition to that student is required to have a successful completion of Degree Project I in 8th semester and Degree Project 2 in 8th semester.  
Mode of Study (full-time, part-time, e-learning etc.) : 1. Class-based method 2. Problem-based methods 3. Visual and practical methods 4. Discussion-based methods courses such as processing methods are applied. These methods are supported in themselves by laboratory studies, project studies and technical tours.
