General Information : Textile Engineering Department, established within Engineering&Architecture faculty of Suleyman Demirel University was started education in 1995. The Department conducts education with 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 5 Assistant Professors, 3 Instructors, 5 Research Assistants, 1 Connuisseur, 3 Technicians and I Secretary. First textile engineers graduated from the Department on 1998-1999 Academic Year and Evening education was started in 2004-2005 Academic Year. Compulsory English preparatory Class was started at the same year. Approximately 487 undergraduate students continue their education at the Department. PhD Program was started on 2005-2006 Academic Year. 51 graduated students continue their MSc and PhD studies at the Department.  
Qualification Awarded : Textile Engineer  
Level of Qualification : First Cycle (Bachelor?s Degree).A graduate textile engineer has the following adequacies: Having basic science knowledge; students can recognize textile material and different fiber types in both field and laboratory works, and search their scientific and economic values. The proficiency level is EQF-LL-6.  
Specific Admission Requirements : Students wanting to register the Department should carry out the procedures and attend the examinations established by the ÖSYM (Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Centre) regulations. Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year.  
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal and informal) : The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Also successful vocational school graduates to continue their educaiton to obtain Bachelor?s degrees if they are successful in the selection and the placement examination (DGS, i.e. vertical transfer examination) are admitted. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department, on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs from which they have graduated. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.


 
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : National qualifications frameworks may contain levels (or intermediate qualifications) within the three Bologna cycles (e.g. a short cycle within the first cycle). These levels allow institutions to structure a particular qualification and regulate progression through the qualification. Qualification Requirements and Regulations are enacted by YÖK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.  
Profile of The Programme : The objective of the Textile Engineering Program is to educate the candidates who will be able to identify, formulate and solve textile engineering problems with a thorough awareness of professional, ethical, environmental, social and economical responsibilities. The aims of the program are to produce qualified BSc, MSc and PhD degrees having capability to create innovative solutions to textile engineering problems, conducting advanced scientific, economic, engineering studies and explorations for the public and private sectors.  
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples : The graduates of the Bachelor's programme in Textile Engineering Engineering Department have opportunities of employment in a variety of private funded companies. The main state companies where they can work are textile engineering departments of academic instutions as academic staff, and governmental bodies and enterprises as engineer. Textile Engineers holding Bachelor's Degree play a key role in industries. The Textile Production process such as spinning, weaving, knitting and ready-made cloth production are the employment areas of today?s Textile Engineers. All these depend on textile engineers to tailor manufacturing technology to the requirements of their products and to integrate product design with process design. Textile Engineers can work in quality and process control, manufacturing, safety, research, product design and development, technical assistance, and marketing and sales, as technical or managerial personnel.


 
Access to Further Studies : The graduates may apply to Textile Engineering or a related Main Branch accepting Textile Engineering Graduates to proceed their MSc Degrees.  
Aims Of Programme : The objective of the Textile Engineering Program is to educate the candidates who is aware of the potentials of Turkey in case of Textile Industry, having abilities of life-long learning, entrepreneurship and problem solving. The aim is to educate qualified engineers that can be involved in national and international projects about textile science and technology and R&D projects with a thorough awareness of professional, ethical, environmental, social and economical responsibilities. The aims of the program are to produce qualified BSc degree having capability providing innovative solutions to textile engineering problems, conducting advanced scientific, economic, engineering studies and explorations for the public and private sectors.  
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : Evaluation of the courses are conducted by practices and projects besides mid-term and final examinatons. Detailed information about specific evaluation procedures of the courses are given in course description forms.  
Graduation Requirements : To take the undergraduate degree, a candidate should take all the courses required for graduation in the legal process and should be successful in these courses having a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.00 and should be successful during a 40-day factory practice.

4. Discussion-based methods are carried out during courses. These methods are supported by laboratory practices, project studies and technical factory visits.
