General Information : Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences of SD University was established in 1993. The basic objective of the graduate school is to organize and conduct Master of Science ( MSc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) graduate programmes in Natural and Applied Sciences. Within the framework of the graduate school, 36 departments exist under the 5 main groups listed below: The required period to achieve the Master's degree is four semesters. After completing and succeeding the compulsory courses, getting credits and presenting seminars, the candidates for the Master's degree can get at most two more half semesters to complete their thesis. The required period to achieve doctoral degree is eight semesters which can be decreased to six semesters at minimum. The thesis preparation period should not be less than three semesters. The candidates for Doctoral degree can get four more half semesters at most to complete their thesis. The Master's degree or Doctoral Degree are awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, prepared a thesis, and succeeded in thesis dissertation.  
Qualification Awarded : This is a second cycle degree program in the science of Biology 120 ECTS. You will be awarded, on successful completion of the programme and gain competencies, a degree of Master in Biology.  
Level of Qualification : Second Cycle (Master?s Degree)/ Third Cycle (Doctorate Degree).  
Specific Admission Requirements : Students, willing to enrol in this graduate programme, must comply with the legal and academic requirements to access the studies in The Süleyman Demirel University according to the process established by the YÖK ( Higher Education Council) regulations. The detail information about the application (once or sometimes twice a year) and access requirements are released before academic year starts on its web site (www.fenbilimleri.sdu.edu.tr). Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognation. The recognation record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out acordingly before the start of each academic year. Under an established exchanges program or one approved by the University, exchange students from abroad may be accepted for studies on the courses taught in English. Or, if they are confident in Turkish, they may then enrol in any courses, running in Turkish, shown on the ?Course Structure? diagram. For example, Erasmus students from abroad want to spend one ter mor two terms in a graduate programme at Süleyman Demirel University should apply to International Relation Office. The detail informaiton on the application procedure is given in their wb site (disiliskiler@sdu.edu.tr).  
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal and informal) : Students who accepted via horizontal or vertical transition system an adaptation program is applied.  
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : National qualifications frameworks may contain levels (or intermediate qualifications) within the three Bologna cycles (e.g. a short cycle within the first cycle). These levels allow institutions to structure a particular qualification and regulate progression through the qualification. Qualification Requirements and Regulations are enacted by YÖK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.  
Profile of The Programme : The programme aims to give updated information to students every year following the recent development in the biology science and thus develop of research and observation enthusiasms of students. In addition, programme is adopted that biology is an applicable science in all fields of life and encouraged to students for use their knowledge creatively.  
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples : Find opportunities to work as researcher in universities and research labs , as a biologist in the field of medicine, food and agriculture sectors, relevant government ministries and health institutions.  
Access to Further Studies : Upon a successful completion of the programme, student may continue with doctoral study in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from the science of Biology.  
Aims Of Programme : The programme aims to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of students about biological sciences and their related fields. This programme help to use to biological techniques, to find novel solutions to fundamental biological problem, to develope the knowledge capabilities of talented youth and to reach sufficent information for analysis the results.  
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : They are specified in each course. Please see the Course Stucture for details.  
Graduation Requirements : In order to gain the degree, the student is required to have minimum 60 ECTS credits lectures (from the graduate course programme) and successfully completed them. Then, the student should prepare a thesis after caring out a research on a topic supervised by a senior lecturer. On a successful submission of thesis, student is required to give a successful oral examination on his/her work.

Program Learning Outcomes
1 Access to scientific researchs with expanded and deepend informations based on undergraduate education adequacy in the field of biology, evaluate this informations and have the ability to apply
2 Assemble independently various problems related to biology, evaluate the results for this problems improving solution methods and gain advanced skills for use in suitable fields
3 Detect problems related to biology, set up hypothesis to solve problems and to solve hypothesis using various observational and experimental methods and gain skills to assess the results
4 Gain skills to transfer clearly oral or written at national and international meetings in their own field or outside process and results of their studies
5 Develop solutions to gain skills for original ideas and methods in different disciplines and have self-confidence to take responsibility
6 Own competence to use information and communication technologies with computer software and hardware information required scientific researchs
7 Establish written, oral and visual communication at advanced level in at least one foreign language
8 Gain awareness of social responsibility taking into account ecological, economic, sociological and health dimensions of biology
