General Information : Teaching and Learning

The teaching year is split into two semesters each consisting of fourteen teaching weeks followed by a period for examinations. The first semester starts in mid-September and the second at the end of February. A typical course unit is taught by lectures with an associated examples class to provide individual assistance.

Project: This is available in the final year of the study; it involves exploring some area of mathematics outside the lecture courses, guided by a supervisor.

Library: The university library provides a collection of approximately 1600 books in mathematics. A wide variety of reader services is available in addition to the loan of books. There are extensive photocopying facilities, Computerised information retrieval facilities are also available. As a complement to its printed collections, the library has invested heavily in the most advanced electronic information resources. Computing Facilities

The Department has a computer cluster. All of our students have access to email and the internet.

The Department has four main research groups, conducting fundamental research at an international level in a number of areas, including Analysis, Geometry, Topology, Algebra and Differential Equations.

Functional Analysis: Summability theory, statistical convergence, matrix transformations, operator theory, spectral theory, Berezin symbols, invariant theory.

Differential Geometry: Harmonic maps, Semi-Riemannian geometry, Lorentz-Minkowskian geometry, motion geometry, elasticity theory, Kaehlerian manifolds.

Topology: Toric varieties and manifolds, topological K-theory.

Differential Equations: Direct and inverse Sturm-Liouville problems, stability theory and asymtotic behaviour for differential-difference equations, mathematical modelling.
 
Qualification Awarded : BSc in Mathematics  
Level of Qualification : First Cycle (Bachelor?s Degree).This is a first cycle degree program in the science of Mathematics (240 ECTS).
You will be awarded, on successful completion of the programme and gain competencies, a degree of undergraduate in Mathematics.
 
Specific Admission Requirements : Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year.
Under an established exchanges program or one approved by the University, exchange students from abroad may be accepted for studies on the courses taught in English. Or, if they are confident in Turkish, they may then enrol in any courses, running in Turkish, shown on the ?Course Structure? diagram. For example, Erasmus students from abroad want to spend one term or two terms in a undergraduate programme at Süleyman Demirel University should apply to International Relation Office.
 
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal and informal) : Students who accepted via horizontal or vertical transition system an adaptation program is applied..  
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : National qualifications frameworks may contain levels (or intermediate qualifications) within the three Bologna cycles (e.g. a short cycle within the first cycle). These levels allow institutions to structure a particular qualification and regulate progression through the qualification. Qualification Requirements and Regulations are enacted by YÖK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.  
Profile of The Programme : Our aim in this Department is to provide a wide range of courses for students of good mathematical ability. Once completing the degree, a student will have a knowledge of such basic ideas as formal proof and the power of abstract formulation of problems.  
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples : The graduates of the the department can find an employment in the sectors university, education and banking.  
Access to Further Studies : Upon a successful completion of the programme, student may continue with masters study in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from the science of Mathematics.  
Aims Of Programme : Our aim in this Department is to provide a wide range of courses for students of good mathematical ability. Once completing the degree, a student will have a knowledge of such basic ideas as formal proof and the power of abstract formulation of problems.

Graduation Requirements : In order to gain the degree, the student is required to have minimum 240 ECTS credits lectures (from the undergraduate course programme) and successfully completed them.
