General Information : The mission of the Department is to play a key role in urban and regional planning as well as in urban design education and research in the country, and to become one of the leading Turkish planning departments with an international reputation. The main research expertise and interest are in the fields of urban systems engineering, urban transport and ınfrastructure planning, the morphological transformation of urban areas, environmental planning and management, and the design of urban spaces. The profession of urban and regional planning is primarily concerned with the human and physical elements of cities and urban regions. A primary goal of this profession is to improve the quality of form and life in neighbourhoods, districts, cities, metropolitan and urban regional areas, the rural settlements, or larger regions. Students acquire basic knowledge and special skills on an understanding of cities and urban regions, the interrelationships between the social, economic and political systems, the spatial patterns and transportation Networks, an awareness of the methods and techniques for analysing them and developing plans, programs and policies for their future, especially as the process involves identifying urban issues, synthesizing the inputs without falling into the dilemma between comprehensiveness and partiality, developing alternative views on how to transform the perceived holistic relationships, producing creative designs for the future, and evaluating designs and their detailed programs for implementation.  
Qualification Awarded : Master's Degree  
Level of Qualification : Second Cycle (Master?s Degree)/ Third Cycle (Doctorate Degree).This is a second cycle degree program in Urban and Regional Planning (120 ECTS). The candidate (student) will be awarded, on successful completion of the programme and gain competencies, a degree of Master in Urban and Regional Planning  
Specific Admission Requirements : Students, willing to enrol to this graduate program, must comply with the legal and academic requirements to Access the studies in Suleyman Demirel University according to the process established by the YÖK (Higher Education Council) regulations. The detailed information about the application (once or sometimes twice a year) and Access requirements are relased before academic year starts on its web site (www.fbe.sdu.edu.tr) . Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year. Under an established exchanges program or one approved by the University, Exchange students from abroad may be accepted for studies on the courses taught in English. Or, if they are confident in Turkish, they may then enrol in any courses, running in Turkish, shown on the Course Structure diagram. For example, Erasmus students from abroad want to spend one ter mor two terms in a graduate program at Suleyman Demirel University should apply to International Relations Office. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal and informal) : Basic Criteria of Scientific Research  
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : National qualifications frameworks may contain levels (or intermediate qualifications) within the three Bologna cycles (e.g. a short cycle within the first cycle). These levels allow institutions to structure a particular qualification and regulate progression through the qualification. Qualification Requirements and Regulations are enacted by YÖK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.

Access to Further Studies : Upon a successful completion of the program, student may continue with doctoral study in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from the fields of Urban and Regional Planning and urban design.

Graduation Requirements : In order to gain the degree, the student is required to have minimum 60 ECTS credits lectures from the graduate course program and successfully completed them. Then, the student should prepare a thesis after caring out a research on a topic supervised by a senior lecturer. On a successful submission of thesis, student is required to give a successful oral examination on his/her study.

2 Skill by using limited or missing data completing and classification the knowledge by scientific methods, skill for completing the knowledge with the related disciplines of planning and design
3 Skill for assembling planning and design problems, developing methods and techniques for alternatives and application of new methods and techniques in projected alternatives
4 Skill for developing new and special planning and design ideas; skill for developing new solutions in the process of considering city from the parts to the whole and from the whole to the parts
5 Comprehensive knowledge about the usage of contemporary techniques and methods in planning areas
6 Skill for designing analytical thinking, modelling and application based researches; skill for analysing and evaluating the complicated situations that are stated in the procedure
7 Definition of the required knowledge and datum, experienced skill for reaching and evaluating those datas
8 Being leadership in strongly disciplined teams, skill for having creating solutions and having responsibility in complicated conditions
9 Skill for having ability for transforming written papers and oral presentations in systematic and clean way in national and international circumstances
10 In the stages of the consideration of social, scientifik and ethical valuesin the process of data collection, evaluation as well as announcement of them
