General Information : Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences of SD University was established in 1993. The basic objective of the graduate school is to organize and conduct Master of Science ( MSc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) graduate programmes in Natural and Applied Sciences. Within the framework of the graduate school, 36 departments exist under the 5 main groups listed below: The required period to achieve the Master's degree is four semesters. After completing and succeeding the compulsory courses, getting credits and presenting seminars, the candidates for the Master's degree can get at most two more half semesters to complete their thesis. The required period to achieve doctoral degree is eight semesters which can be decreased to six semesters at minimum. The thesis preparation period should not be less than three semesters. The candidates for Doctoral degree can get four more half semesters at most to complete their thesis. The Master's degree or Doctoral Degree are awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, prepared a thesis, and succeeded in thesis dissertation.  
Qualification Awarded : After successful completion of the program, students will be awarded Master of Science degree in Physics.  
Level of Qualification : Second Cycle (Master?s Degree)/ Third Cycle (Doctorate Degree).This is a second cycle degree program in Physics (120 ECTS).  
Specific Admission Requirements : Students, willing to enroll in this graduate program, must comply with the legal and academic requirements to access the studies in the Süleyman Demirel University according to the process established by the YÖK (Higher Education Council) regulations. The detail information about the application (once or sometimes twice a year) and access requirements are released before academic year starts on its web site (www.fenbilimleri.sdu.edu.tr). Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside of the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year. Under an established exchanges program or one approved by the University, exchange students from abroad may be accepted for studies on the courses taught in English. Or, if they are confident in Turkish, they may then enroll in any courses, running in Turkish, shown on the ?Course Structure? diagram. For example Erasmus students from abroad want to spend one term or two terms in a graduate program at Süleyman Demirel Universty should apply to International Relation Office.  
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal and informal) : Students who accepted via horizontal or vertical transition system an adaptation program is applied..  
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : National qualifications frameworks may contain levels (or intermediate qualifications) within the three Bologna cycles (e.g. a short cycle within the first cycle). These levels allow institutions to structure a particular qualification and regulate progression through the qualification. Qualification Requirements and Regulations are enacted by YÖK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.  
Profile of The Programme : To train MSci students with the skills of producing new approaches/methods for a research subject or applying a known method to a new field, and/or developing the ability of performing independent scientific research in any field of Physics.  
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples : Researcher in industrial fields . Researcher in universities and research labs. Educational fields.  
Access to Further Studies : Upon a successful completion of the program, student may continue with PhD study in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from Physics Department.  
Aims Of Programme : To educate and equip the students, who are accepted for Master of Science program by the department, with the knowledge of postgraduate level Atomic and Molecular Physics and/or Solid-state Physics and/or General Physics and/or Nuclear Physics and/or High Energy and Plasma Physics and/or Mathematical Physics and/or Astrophysics enabling them to continue PhD program in any Turkish or European University.  
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : They are specified in each course. Please see the Course Structure for details.  
Graduation Requirements : In order to gain the degree, a student is required to take minimum 60 ECTS credits lectures (from the graduate course program) and to complete the courses successfully. In addition, the student should carry out a research under the supervision of a lecturer. Having followed the submission of thesis, the student is required to have a verbal examination on his/her work.

Program Learning Outcomes
1 reach common knowledge of a study subject by scientific research, gain deep knowledge about the subject and to evaluate and interpret it in practice
2 expand knowledge by scientific methods and use them with scientific, social and ethical responsibility
3 define a problem and propose a solution for it, and to solve the problem, evaluate the results and apply them if it is necessary in his/her areas of expertise
4 develop new strategic approach and produce solutions by taking responsibility in unexpected and complicated situations in his/her area of practice
5 have oral or written communication ability in one of the common foreign languages
6 follow scientific, social, and ethical values and to teach and to control them in the step of data collection, evaluation and announcement of them
7 transfer systematically the current developments, his/her studies to other people as verbal or written form confidently
8 apply the digested knowledge and problem solving ability in the collaborations between different groups
